$17B Inflation Relief Package Includes Stimulus Checks For Californians

Californians may soon see a stimulus check after the state’s governor and lawmakers come to a budget agreement. Governor Gavin Newsom says the $17 billion inflation relief package will offer tax refunds to millions of working Californians.

Reports are 23 million will receive direct payments of up to $1,050. The package will also include a suspension of the state’s sales tax on diesel and additional funds to help people pay the rent and utility bills.

The relief package will be paid for by the $97 billion state budget surplus, the highest in California’s history. According to a Newsom administration official, checks will be delivered via direct deposit or debit card by late October.
