Biden Holds Reception at White House Honoring Black History

The Biden administration is emphasizing the importance of Black history in America. At a Black History Month reception held at the White House on Monday President Biden, joined by Vice President Harris, said:

“History matters. History matters, and Black history matters. Look, I can’t just choose to learn what we want to know. We learn what we should know. We have to learn everything, the good, the bad, the truth, and who we are as a nation.”

“Black history is American history. And history that we then must teach and celebrate,” the vice president added.

Her comments come as some Republican leaders have pushed to limit certain aspects within African-American studies.

“And let us all be clear, we will not as a nation build a better future for America by trying to erase America’s past.”
