Black Florida Congresswoman Takes Action to Protect Kids

Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL) has introduced H.R. 901, the Disposable ENDS Product Enforcement Act of 2023, to prevent the sale of disposable electronic nicotine delivery systems. The legislation addresses vapes that have flavors that would appeal to children. The congresswoman, who is a mother of two and a former healthcare executive, is concerned about the increasing number of young people who are developing nicotine addictions.

The legislation calls on the Biden administration to close the loophole created by the Trump Administration that allows the sale of flavored e-cigarettes if the device is disposable.

According to Cherfilus-McCormick, Chinese manufacturers and suppliers are flooding the U.S. market with unregulated, harmful substances that are altering our children’s brain development and lives.
