BMI Announces 2020 Trailblazers Of Gospel Honorees

BMI’s Trailblazers of Gospel honorees for 2020 are in!

Todd Galberth was awarded “Song of the Year” for penning “I’m Getting Ready,” which was performed by Tasha Cobbs. Kirk Franklin was named “Songwriter of the Year” and Songs of Kobalt Music Publishing was awarded “Publisher of the Year.”

“BMI is proud to honor these remarkable luminaries of Gospel music,” BMI Vice President Creative, Catherine Brewton, said in a statement. “Their music gives us strength and encouragement, and their voices are a source of comfort and healing when we need it most. We thank our songwriters for sharing their musical gifts that uplift, empower and encourage us all, as we unite in the movement for change, and we look forward to coming together in fellowship once again next year.”

For Galberth, “I’m Getting Ready” spent 52 weeks on Billboard’s Gospel charts. And three of BMI’s most performed gospel songs of 2019 were written by Franklin. This year is Galberth’s first time winning, and Franklin’s 17th!
