Families of victims along with civil rights leaders and activists are still calling for federal response and action against white supremacy, following the heinous shooting spree that killed 10 residents inside Tops grocery store in Buffalo, New York. Reverend Al Sharpton has called on the president to convene civil rights leaders and the Black, Latinx, Jewish, and AAPI communities to address the rise in hate crimes.
Reverend Sharpton will deliver the eulogy for 62-year-old Geraldine Talley this Friday and 86-year-old Ruth Whitfield on Saturday. Attorney Ben Crump will deliver the call to action.
According to a release put out by the National Action Network, they have agreed to help cover the costs of the victims’ funerals. And will also address the lack of access to grocery stores with the closure of Tops. NAN has opened a few distribution sites at the Greater Works Christian Fellowship. They are providing free food while supplies last.
