Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has made it clear he is not backing down on his views and policies regarding sending migrants who have entered the country illegally to Democratic-led cities. He continued to stand firm on his recent decision to send 50 migrants to Martha’s Vineyard.
“The thing is with the sanctuary [cities], the idea is because they have more benefits, or whatever they do, that people will be able to stick. And so that’s why you’re doing it. If I could do it all in Florida, I would. But if we just ignore the source, then you’re going to have people trickling in five, 10 a day, 20 a day. I don’t know. But there’s no way you can possibly track all of that because it’s on such a small scale,” DeSantis said.
Gov. DeSantis could face criminal charges if Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar has his way. He is investigating whether DeSantis broke the law in sending the migrants to the wealthy enclave.
The group of migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard have recently filed a lawsuit that claims DeSantis and other Florida officials, “designed and executed a premeditated, fraudulent, and illegal scheme centered on exploiting this vulnerability for the sole purpose of advancing their own personal, financial, and political interests.”
