Family of Tyre Nichols Among Jill Biden SOTU Guests

The family of Tyre Nichols, U2 lead singer Bono, and Ukraine’s ambassador to the U.S. will be among First Lady Jill Biden’s guests at the State of the Union Address. The three are among more than two dozen guests the White House says represent key administration priorities, including support for Ukraine, police reform, and healthcare.

Other guests include Brandon Tsay, the California man who disarmed the gunman responsible for killing 11 people at a Lunar New Year’s celebration earlier this year. The First Lady is also hosting former House speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, who continues to recover from a politically motivated attack.

During tonight’s speech, you can expect the president to tout his administration’s legislative achievements and make his case that he has accomplished a lot done during his first two years of the White House.

Political analysts expect President Biden to begin his pitch for a second four-year term. This comes against the backdrop of the latest Washington Post/ABC News poll showing that more than six in 10 Americans surveyed think Biden has accomplished little or nothing since taking office.
