The Stellar Awards Are Headed Back to Las Vegas

The Stellar Awards, dubbed “The Greatest Night in Gospel Music,” will be returning to the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 15, 2023. In a simple post, on social media and on their website, Central City Productions announced the “Breaking News” of the live taping of the 38th Annual Stellar Awards marking the first time the ceremony will be held in Las Vegas, since the postponement in 2020 due to the global pandemic. The Stellars are the first and only award show honoring Gospel Music and members of the industry. Tickets will go on sale March 31, 2023. Reservations can be made at The Orleans Hotel, the host hotel for the event.

Kirk Franklin Tops Songwriter’s Charts 100 Weeks Straight

Gospel superstar Kirk Franklin has made history as the first artist of any music genre to remain 100 on a songwriter’s chart 100 weeks straight. “As a songwriter, there are few things more gratifying than seeing your work connect with people on a deep level,” Franklin told Billboard. Franklin has now become the only artist to have ever achieved this honor according to Billboard, that launched its Hot 100 Songwriters and Hot 100 Producers charts, as well as genre-specific rankings for country, rock & alternative, R&B/hip-hop, R&B, rap, Latin, Christian, gospel and dance/electronic in June 2019.

BMI Names Honorees for 2023 Ceremony

BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) will honor Gospel superstars Tamela and David Mann and Dr. Bobby Jones at its 22nd Annual Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards during a private event to be held at Flourish Atlanta on March 30th.

The ceremony will recognize the impact these three legendary entertainers have made on the genre and also pay tribute to the songwriters and publishers behind the year’s best Gospel music. BMI will also recognize the songwriters, producers, and music publishers of the past year’s 25 most-performed Gospel songs in the United States. Awards for the BMI Gospel Song, Songwriter and Publisher of the Year will also be named during the event.

West Palm Beach Legacy Concert is Bringing Out the Stars

All roads lead to the Sunset Cove Amphitheater on March 25th, 2023 at 5pm for the West Palm Beach Legacy Concert. The Victory Faith Chapel International, under the leadership of Apostle Seth Amoah Boateng, will host the inaugural concert celebrating their 10th anniversary.

This year’s artists include Chandler Moore of Maverick City, Jekalyn Carr, Joe Mettle, Emmanuel Smith, Christian comedian NotKarltonBanks and others.

The revenue from the concert will go towards funding the Legacy Project, a community reformation project to create the first Historic Legacy Community Center dedicated to helping shape the minds of those within the community that have been deemed hopeless and unworthy.

Billy Porter Wows the Crowd with Gospel Song on “That’s My Jam”

Billy Porter appeared on a recent episode of NBC’s That’s My Jam, an hourlong music and comedy variety game show hosted by Jimmy Fallon alongside Patti LaBelle, Darren Criss and Sarah Hyland The four Broadway alums will compete in a series of music, dance and trivia-based games and musical performances. Porter sang a Gospel rendition of Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger.” “Gospel is my wheelhouse,” said Porter when asked about the genre selection. The episode aired Tuesday, March 14th on NBC and can be streamed the next day on Peacock.
