Black Church Leaders Take on Digital Equity

The nationwide movement of Black church leaders collectively known as Black Churches 4 Digital Equity (BC4DE) will be coming together for an organized National Day of Action on September 24, 2022, to help close the digital divide within Black communities. It has been determined that approximately 29% of Black adults nationwide don’t have a home internet connection.

These leaders are seeking to enroll eligible members of communities in the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) which will ensure that households with incomes that are at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines will be able to afford the internet connections necessary for work and school. This is also applicable for participants in programs such as SNAP, Medicaid and the Housing Choice Program or other government subsidies.

The National Day of Action will be taking place simultaneously in 30 cities to raise awareness of the ACP’s benefits while helping eligible families to sign up. A full list of all participating churches nationwide is available at blackchurches4digitalequity.com/events.
