Jan. 6th Hearings To Continue Wednesday, Reveal Key Elements of Effort To Overturn 2020 Election

“The radical Democrats don’t care about prosecuting violent criminals. They only care about persecuting Republicans or conservatives.”

That was former President Donald Trump slamming the January 6th committee’s work as an effort to distract voters ahead of the midterms. However, this week, the committee is holding its first hearing in more than two months.

NBC’s Brie Jackson has more on the developments:

“A bombshell claim connecting the Trump White House and a rioter on Capitol grounds during the January 6th insurrection,” Jackson said.

Former GOP Congressman Denver Riggleman of Virginia, who once served on the January 6th committee staff, revealed call details between the White House and a rioter to CBS’s 60 Minutes.

The January 6th committee members confirmed the call happened. Many details are still unknown, including who placed the call or where it fits in the investigation. They say possible criminal referrals could come from their investigation. The panel holds what could be its final hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 28, with midterm elections just over a month away.

“When you see that the White House switchboard had connected to a rioter’s phone while it’s happening, that’s a big, pretty big ‘aha’ moment,” Riggleman said during the 60 Minutes interview.
