Kirk Franklin and Maverick City Music have been touring the country promoting their collaborative Kingdom Book One album and stopped by BET Awards to continue to spread the messages – super special considering the award show has been deemed culture’s biggest night.
The gospel artists not only performed their new single, “Kingdom,” but also sang a rendition of “Melodies From Heaven” and a piece of “I’ll Be Missing You” during Diddy’s Lifetime Achievement Award tribute.
Their impact didn’t end there.
Kirk Franklin also won the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational award for his “We Win” song off the Space Jam 2 soundtrack featuring rapper Lil Baby. Franklin used this time to introduce the BET Awards audience to Maverick City Music, “passing along the baton” to a new generation of gospel music.
