New Poll Shows What Black Voters Really Want

The Black to the Future Action Fund has released a new poll revealing the top issues that drove Black voter turnout in the ’22 midterms. According to the poll, economic issues, abortion, racism, and safety were the top concerns that drove voters to the polls.

Black voters reported voting for Democrats during the midterm elections with 78% of Black voters poll across California, Georgia, and North Carolina reporting that they voted Democrat.

Latasha Brown, co-founder of Black Voters Matter, stated that to reach Black voters, messages must be rooted in power, not fear, and spaces must be created that affirm blackness to create collective joy.

The poll surveyed 1,200 Black voters and amongst the findings, inflation and the cost of living is the top issue, followed by jobs and the economy. Voters want the Biden-Harris administration to pass gun control legislation, declare white supremacist violence a national security threat, and enact tax cuts or tax credits for working and middle class families.
