Bank of America has pledged a generous $3 million grant to the Obama Foundation. This substantial contribution will be utilized to bolster workforce development initiatives and community support programs, both of which are connected to the upcoming Obama Presidential Center on the South Side of Chicago.
Over the course of three years, Bank of America’s funding will actively aid the foundation in achieving its goals of enhancing workforce diversity and eliminating entry barriers, particularly in the construction of the Obama Presidential Center. To accomplish these goals, the foundation has enlisted the expertise of the We Can Build It Consortium, comprised of leading industry firms, to guide their efforts in recruiting, training, and retaining talented individuals while addressing the historical obstacles faced by women and minorities in the building trades.
Bank of America’s grant will not only reinforce the existing impactful workforce development programs in Chicago but also support the expansion of the Obama Foundation’s My Brother’s Keeper Alliance. This expansion aims to foster greater opportunities and improved outcomes for boys and young men of color, extending its reach to various communities nationwide, including Chicago.
