Tim Scott’s Leap: Senator Announces 2024 Presidential Bid

Senator Tim Scott, a prominent African-American Republican from South Carolina, has officially declared his intention to run for president in 2024. Speaking at his alma mater, Charleston Southern University, he delivered a speech focused on freedom, hope, and opportunity.

He expressed his belief that the nation is at a crossroads and says that he chooses victory and greatness over victimhood and grievance.

Scott is a top-tier fundraiser in the Senate, kicking off his campaign with a significant $22 million war chest, even though he is only polling at 6%. He’s already put $6 million towards advertising in early states like Iowa and New Hampshire.

But he’s also facing heavy criticism from those who believe he has not gone far enough on police accountability or criminal justice reform. His positions on voting rights and gun reform are also contentious points for critics, as he attempts to reconcile GOP traditions with the pressing demand for change in the face of racial disparity.
