Trump Losing Support Among GOP Voters

It’s not a matter of if but when former President Donald Trump will announce that he is going to run in 2024. That’s according to a recent Washington Post interview that cited two advisors who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

One advisor believes the announcement will come before the midterms. Another insists it will be in September. But the bigger question is can he win his party’s nomination?

In a New York Times/Siena College poll, 49% of primary voters said they would support him for a third nomination. However, coming in at number two with 25% is GOP Florida Governor Ron DeSantis

The number may be in Trump’s favor, but it represents a major shift with nearly half of Republicans ready to go another route. Of those under 35 years old and also the college educated, around 64% say they would vote against Trump.

In a matchup with President Joe Biden, despite low approval ratings, Biden still edges out a narrow lead, coming in at 44% with Donald Trump at 41%.
