Two American brothers who were kidnapped in Mexico and survived are back in the U.S. Robert Williams, brother of Eric Williams, talked about his reaction to learning his brother was alive:
“Like the first thing was that I was gonna leave, but I just had faith that he’s the tough guy, like you said, and that he would pull through and that he wanted, that he would want to live. I know you can’t always control that, but at least I knew that the desire to live.”
That news was confirmed Tuesday by State Department spokesman Ned Price. He added that officials are working to get back the remains of the two kidnapped Americans who died. His announcement came as one person is under arrest in connection with the incident.
The group of four was kidnapped after crossing the border near Brownsville, Texas, last week. Family members say they had traveled there for a medical procedure from South Carolina.
Mexico’s president said the group was caught in the crossfire between two armed groups before they were taken away at gunpoint.
