White House Remains Silent on President Biden’s Stance on COVID-19 Origins Bill

It is not clear if the president will sign a bill to declassify information related to the possible origin of COVID-19. House lawmakers passed the bill this week, sending it to President Biden’s desk. During a White House press briefing, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the president will look at the bill and make a determination on whether to sign it.

No lawmakers voted against the measure as it cleared the Democratic-controlled Senate unanimously. The measure moved to Biden’s desk as the COVID lab leak theory gained traction after the Energy Department and FBI recently said it was the most likely explanation.

Other U.S. intelligence agencies believe the virus has emerged naturally. The White House says there’s still no consensus on the origins just yet.
